R. Chetanacranti

Born in Umri Kalan village, Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, R. Chetanacranti received his early education in local schools before completing his post-graduation from Meerut University. He has published three poetry collections: Shoknaach (2004), Veerta Par Vichlit (2017), and Aatmadroh.

R Chetanacranti has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Bharat Bhushan Agrawal Smriti Puraskar, Spandan Puraskar, Amar Ujala Shabd Samman,Rajasthan Patrika’s Annual Poetry Award and Banaras Lit Fest Book Award 2025. In an era of cultural opportunism, he has embraced poetic self-exile and a saint-like persona, marking a significant achievement in Hindi literature.

Following the tradition of Shamsher Bahadur Singh, Chetanacranti is among the few distinguished Hindi poets adept in Urdu ghazals and nazms.
