Shiv Murti

Shiv Murti, born in March 1950 in Kurang village, Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, is a celebrated storyteller whose works reflect deep societal insights. Growing up in a marginal farmer’s family and facing financial hardships due to his father’s absence, he endured struggles, including performing street acts and selling herbal medicines. Known for the dramatic appeal of his stories, several of his works, such as Agam Bhai Dariav, Kasaibada, Tiriya Charittar, Bharatnatyam, and Siri Upma Jog, have been adapted into films and staged extensively. His stories have been translated into various Indian and foreign languages, and literary magazines like Lamhi and Samved have honored his contributions with special issues. His published works include story collections (Kesar Kasturi, Kucchi Ka Kanoon), novels (Trishul, Tarpan), and plays (Kasaibada, Tiriya Charittar). He has received numerous accolades, including the Shrilal Shukla Smriti IFFCO Sahitya Samman and Lamhi Samman, cementing his legacy in modern Hindi literature.
