Akhilesh Jha

Akhilesh Jha is from Mithila and currently lives in Delhi NCR. He is a Gramophone historian and a documentary filmmaker. He has authored eighteen books on various cultural aspects of this subcontinent. One of his recent works was a 75-episode web-series ‘Azadinama’ that culminated with the 75th year of India’s independence. This series was a gramophone-based account of India’s freedom struggle. Currently he is engaged in writing 150 stories related with Vande Mataram, as year 2025 is the 150th year of Vande Mataram song.

Akhilesh studied Vedas for twelve years and then he became a pracharak of spoken Sanskrit for about seven years. He pioneered the computer literacy movement for slum children and undertrial prisoners in India. His other passion is curating data and calls himself a data-artist. He is associated with a very prestigious project on advocacy of restitution of Indian artefacts lying in museums abroad.

Akhilesh is a 1996-batch Civil Servant and is currently posted in Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. In this sphere of work, he is a PFM and Data expert.
