Prof. Dhananjay Singh

Prof. Dhananjay Singh, a distinguished academic, earned his undergraduate degree in English from Government College, Itanagar, Arunachal University, in 1995, and his MA in English in 1997, receiving a Gold Medal for outstanding academic performance. He completed his M.Phil. and PhD in English from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, in 2003 and 2007, specializing in literary and cultural studies. Prof. Singh began his teaching career at Sri Aurobindo College, University of Delhi, and later joined JNU, where he headed the Centre for English Studies from 2019 to 2023 and served as Associate Dean of the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies. He has also held administrative positions, including Associate Dean of Students and Chief Proctor at JNU. Early in his career, he contributed as Assistant Editor to significant projects like The Encyclopedia of Indian Poetics and Mutual Regards: Indo-Irish Anthology. He has taught a range of courses, supervised numerous PhD and M.Phil. students, and presented research globally, with publications in renowned journals and publishers such as Palgrave Macmillan and Springer Nature. His monographs include Fables in the Indian Narrative Tradition (2011), The Poetics of Theatre in Early India (2021), and the forthcoming Philosophy of Performance in India. He has held visiting positions at institutions in Italy, the USA, and Ireland, and was awarded a Marie Curie Research Secondment for his research on Seamus Heaney and Buddhist epistemology. Prof. Singh's poetry has been featured in Muse India and South Asian Ensemble.
