Dr. Prabhat Kumar Mishra

Dr. Prabhat Kumar Mishra is Associate Professor in the Hindi Department at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. His areas of special interest include Pre-modern Hindi literature, Apabhramsa literature and Hindi criticism. Born in Darbhanga district, Bihar, Dr. Mishra conducted acclaimed research on "Mithila's society and culture in Vidyapati's literature" under the guidance of Professor Manager Pandey at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He received his Ph.D. on "The Interrelationship of Orientalism and the Hindi Renaissance." His works on "The Philosophy of Literature and the History of Literature" and "The Writing of Literature's History" have also been highly acclaimed. He has completed a major research project for the UGC, titled "The Presence of Kalidasa in Modern Hindi Literature," and is currently engaged in another major research project, "The Role and Relevance of the Government of India's Language Policy in Language Preservation and Promotion: With Special Reference to the Eighth Schedule and the Maithili Language," funded by Banaras Hindu University. He has also developed and conducted online courses on "Hindi Sahitya ka Itibas. Darshan" and 'Bhartiya Kayyashastra for M.A. (Hindi) through the Swayam platform of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. His articles have been regularly published in prestigious Hindi journals. He has publishell four books Prachyavad, aur Hindi Diaxiagran Hindi Mein Kalidas, Hindi Sahitya Ka Itihas, Lekhan, and Algebana Ke Sammukh. He was also honoured with prestigious award and recoginations.
