Shaan Kashyap is a historian and translator. Trained at BHU (Varanasi), JNU (New Delhi), and Ravenshaw University (Cuttack), he has witnessed the diversities of educational and political debates firsthand. He is the author of Who Owns the Past? How Historians Rewrote India Past and Present, 1870-2020 (Penguin, 2026), and contributes regularly to newspapers and magazines.
