Moid Rasheedi

Dr. Moid Rasheedi (b. 1988, Kankinara, North Kolkata) is regarded as one of the most innovative contemporary Urdu poets. He earned his M.A. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, an M.Phil from the University of Delhi, and a Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University for his teacher-candidate research on "Jadeed Ghazal Ki Sheriyat." Early in his career he worked as a compere at All India Radio, Delhi, and contributed to Doordarshan Urdu. He also served for three years as a research assistant at the National Council for the Promotion of the Urdu Language, New Delhi.

Dr. Rasheedi received the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar (Urdu) in 2013 and the Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad Yuva Samman Puraskar in 2025. He is the author of eight books; Rekhta Foundation published his Urdu ghazal collection “AAKHIRI KINAARE PAR” and his Hindi collection “ISHQ”. His second Urdu poetry collection, “KHAAB MAT PADHA KARO”, was recently released and warmly received by readers. A regular participant in mushairas in India and abroad, he currently serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Urdu at Aligarh Muslim University.

Rasheedi’s poetry navigates a wide range of experiences and emotions, subtly revealing darkness through the light of illumination. By probing the depths of self and existence, his work fuses inward reflection with outward observation to create a distinctive poetic vision.
