Prabhat Ranjan

Prabhat Ranjan is a noted Hindi writer, critic, and translator. He is the author of three acclaimed short story collections. His critical work Jaduyi Yatharth ka Jadugar: Márquez was the first major Hindi study on Gabriel García Márquez. His non-fiction Kothagoi, an exploration of Muzaffarpur’s courtesan culture, won the Dwarka Prasad Agrawal Young Writer Award at the Jaipur Literature Festival.

His novel Qissagram and memoir Paltu Bohemian showcase his wide narrative range. His recent book, Kissagram: A Novella and Other Stories, translated into English by Satyadeep S. Chhetri, brings his fiction to a wider readership. It was first published in Hindi as Qissagram.

As a translator, he has rendered nearly 25 books from English into Hindi. Among his honours are the Sahara Samay Katha Samman, Premchand Katha Samman, Krishna Baldev Vaid Fellowship, and the ABP News Best Blogger Award.

He is also a moderator of the well-known online Hindi magazine Jankipul.com.
