⁠Cultural activist and critic who founded the People’s Linguistic Survey of India (PLSI) to document India’s living languages—an unprecedented linguistic mapping exercise. 

⁠Established the Adivasi Academy and Bhasha Research & Publication Centre to preserve marginalised literatures and knowledge systems. 

⁠Recipient of national/international recognitions (Padma Shri among others) for work on language rights and cultural preservation. 

⁠Signature impact: institutionalising grassroots linguistic documentation to influence policy and cultural conservation.
