Harshit Shyam

Harshit Shyam is a researcher in Journalism and Mass Communication, specializing in Hindi journalism and news agencies. For the past decade, he has been actively engaged not only at Banaras Hindu University but also in the cultural life of Banaras. He has led teams from BHU’s two largest faculties—the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Social Sciences—in prestigious youth festivals like Spandan.  

A founding member and the current coordinator of BHU’s renowned theatre group, Rangshala, he is deeply involved in various aspects of communication arts, including writing, photography, and design. His design expertise was showcased in the centenary souvenir of Banaras’ most significant musical tradition, the Shri Sankat Mochan Music Festival.  

Beyond academia, he has worked in documentary and film production. In addition to producing several documentaries for the university, he was part of the production team for Chef Vikas Khanna’s directorial debut, The Last Color, starring Neena Gupta, which was longlisted for the Oscars.  

Originally from Mau district, Banaras runs through his veins. Despite his versatility, he feels most at home in roles that extend beyond the spotlight.
